Special tutors, many of whom are volunteers, provide additional instruction in foreign languages, tutorial lessons, musical instruments, byzantine music, eurhythmics, painting and many other useful activities. Additionally, children of the last level of high school attend tutorial lessons in the NorthEast Attiki area (Rafina, Agia Paraskevi) to enable them to achieve entrance to higher institutes of
learning, such as Universities and Technical Schools (AEI, TEI).
The devoted nuns of the Lyreio Children’s Institution, with a great sense of responsibility and sensitivity, help children study their lessons, supervise them in games, support them in their personal problems, transport them to school, escort them on excursions to the sea and other areas, and accompany them on outings to the theater, cinema, lectures, summer camps, parades and other social events.
For the everyday entertainment of the children, the Institution has a fully equipped playground, educational and entertaining table games for all tastes, books, magazines, television, video, DVD and a variety of musical instruments that friends and donors of the Institution have given with much love.

The Lyreio Children’s Institution provides its children with comprehensive medical assistance and full psychological support services. Within the Institution the children are allowed contact with relatives and friends during days and hours that do not interfere with their school schedule.
The children may remain at the Lyreio Children’s Institution after the age of 18, including young men during the fulfillment of their military service. The nuns of the Lyreio Children’s Institution care not only about the upbringing and education of the children but also place importance on preparing the children for a happy marriage, just as any parent would do. Children who marry receive furniture, electric appliances, clothing, and even an allotment for rent for the first months. To date, more than 40 children of the Institution have started their own enviable families and maintain excellent family ties with the Institution.
The children know that even when they are long gone, the nuns of the Lyreio Children’s Institution will always be there to offer help and support, as any compassionate parent would do. For instance, during the summer young women who grew up, were educated, married and started their own happy families, can stay at the Institution’s premises with their own children. |
